Who is your rock, your inspiration?

I'd say my mom and my husband are my rocks. My grand kids are surely my inspiration! If anyone can get me off the couch, out of bed, and in a good mood, it would be a call from the grand kids, telling me they want to come down!

So how about you?

What a wonderful ode to your wife, dkel! Thank you for sharing those stories. The rocks in my life are my 12-year-old twins and their father. They wish I were my 'old self' yet do not judge the new one. For our family, life is all about teamwork...Lord knows I would be in a world of hurt without my team!

I am only 36 but feel 80- so the light of youth my children exude guides and propels me to be better, and stay young at heart. Their father never matches my frenzied fear and pain...he listens, stays strong, and encourages... reminding me that crisis moments pass and wishing he could absorb some of the pain for me.

I feel guilty sometimes wondering if my "rocks" experience compassion fatigue, but hope our love for each other balances that out.

What a wonderful woman you have there, dkel!

And what a wonderful husband for you slmo!

SLMO, I am a twin mom, too. :) Mine are turning 16 this summer.

David, I am fond of your wife already, because I too gave up my career when my children came along. She sounds like a terrific woman.

Thanks dkel. I appreciate your words... 'Love overcomes everything' rings so true. Because friends fall off the map and isolation sets in, I notice the closest people to my heart even more...I have 8 nieces and nephews 5 and under...they are such a delight, and like you it is hard to be down when exuberance abounds.

hi there... just found this... good question...) my "rock" as far as people are concerned definitely is my wife...we talk alot and she is sooooo supportive... am blessed to have her (Susan)...my other "rock" is the Lord JESUS...HE is my savior and my Lord...with me at all times and preparing a place in heaven for me...) am truly blessed...)

Hi Richard,

What a blessing to have such a supportive wife...husband and wife means partner, friend, lover and one who feels sympathy when the other is suffering...sounds like Susan covers all of those bases!

Thank you for mentioning Jesus. Many people do not talk about religion openly on any forums. I was raised Christian, but do not practice any religion actively. However, I find myself praying every day...to give thanks and to ask for guidance/strength.

hi... thanks for the response... l mention JESUS because HE is not a religion... but a real live "person"...l am not religious in that sense...the "relational" aspect of my faith is what is important to me and HIM...not religious stuff...( keep praying... HE hears and answers...

my e mail is rah4him@gmail.com is you want to talk more privately... feel free to get in touch...

have had lyme for a year and fatigue is my main problem...would like to hear your story...)

Richard

Thanks Richard I will be in touch. I too am riddled with fatigue and pain...the two are probably the worst part of this. Most days I feel heavy brain fog too...I think of one of the steps in AA that says we should acknowledge some kind of power above ourselves. I think of that often and certainly hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!!! One thing is for sure- we are connected by this disease but also by the desire to help each other out, a powerful source indeed.

Hi Richard,

How very kind to post your private email for all of your friends here. Please let me warn you that members of other groups have done this, and been bombarded with spam! If you choose to edit this, and remove your email address, we would understand! It can always be sent in a private message!

good advice will do thanks

Jesus is definitely first. He saved me and is always there when I need to get everything out of my system. I wouldn't be alive to today if not for him. He saved me spiritually and physically. My friend who also dealt with lyme and is now better is always there for me. She understands what I'm going through and will sit and just listen while I talk. She is awesome.

I am glad you have a foundation with faith and good friends! How long did it take your friend to get better? I also have a friend who was just diagnosed with Lyme recently. I feel terrible she has to go through this but am glad I can be there for her. Hope you are going well today.

She didn't have it bad at all and was feeling better within 6 months. They caught it right away. But for those who don't catch it right away it takes way longer. She still gets sick every now and then. So she gets a treatment and then feels fine again. I'm doing pretty good today. Hope you are having a good day as well.

Sounds like my friend...she is no where near as bad as I day to day, but gets sick now and again. I encouraged her to get Lyme testing based on the fact no doctor had figured out the initial flare up she experienced. Every body is different though...now that she is on Lyme treatment she feels worse, Herx I told her...are you currently on treatment and does your friend experience Herx symptoms also?
