Have you tried S-Acetyl Glutathione?

What is glutathione? Glutathione is a tripeptide molecule made inside cells from the amino acids L-glutamine, L-cysteine and L-glycine. The sulfur atom in L-cysteine is what binds heavy metals and toxins and aids in their removal from the body. Glutathione is also very crucial for proper mitochondrial function and energy production. Glutathione is also needed to protect DNA from damage. Many individuals with chronic illness (chronic infections (i.e. herpes, HIV, Lyme disease), chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, heavy metal toxicity, candida overgrowth, etc.) have very low levels of glutathione in their tissues. Heavy metals (i.e. mercury, lead, cadmium) not only cause the body’s tissues to use up their supply of glutathione, but they also “directly” inhibit the production of more glutathione by displacing magnesium from the enzyme that makes glutathione!

Well thanks to the development of a new form of glutathione called S-Acetyl-Glutathione, there a now a way to supplement glutathione orally without the nasty taste or smell of the pre-cursor NAC or the expense of I.V. glutathione. S-Acetyl-Glutathione is the first orally stable form of glutathione that is absorbed intact and increases intracellular glutathione levels.

Did you know that glutathione is not only important for detoxification and energy production, but it is also crucial for proper functioning of the immune system? Too little glutathione in the body results in chronic inflammation because glutathione is needed for the balance between cell-mediated immunity (the TH1 pathway) and humoral immunity (the TH2 pathway or antibodies). T-lymphocytes direct the 2 sides of the immune system. When there too little glutathione present in the body, the humoral side of the immune system dominates and results in the production of cytokines and antibodies that produce a great deal of tissue inflammation. Supplementing S-Acetyl-Glutathione helps restore the balance to the immune system and relieves this chronic inflammatory cycle. If you suffer from chronic pain and inflammation, a chronic infection, or chronic fatigue, then you need to give S-Acetyl-Glutathione a try!

Illnesses that have responded well to S-Acetyl-Glutathione supplementation are Hepatitis, Herpes, Shingles, HIV/AIDS, Lyme Disease, Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Autism, Allergies, Asthma, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromylagia.

So have you tried S-Acetyl Glutathione and had success with it? What brand did you try?

The brand I have tried is called Xymogen.

Did you notice any improvement when you used it? I'm on the ALA and that does increase glutothione production in the body. I can't remember what he said but glutothione was good to have more of it.

Ally,
I highly recommend glutathione as it allows me to function better. The nausea is decreased and the icky feelings start to subside.
How are you feeling today?
xx,
Jen

Jen,

Oh, ok just alot of upper body pain and I woke in middle of night with a whopping headache. Sometimes that happens and I get up for awhile and then go back to sleep.

Sounds like you had a good result from the glutothione. I was just reading about it on my doctor's website and now I can't find it.

Take care,

Ally

Ally,

Do you buy your supplements through your doctor?

I pray that the pain subsided so you could have Thanksgiving.

Jen

Thanks Jen. I've been buying my supplements lately at my doctor's office. He doesn't mark anything up so it's cheaper for me to get them there and more convenient. I use to go on Amazon but, like I said, he doesn't mark up. That's really nice.

Ally

Can non-patients order from his website?

Thanks,
Jen

Jen,

He doesn't have his recommended products on his website yet. Looks like future they will be listed.

If you want to know about anything specific or brands that I take, ask me.

Ally

Jen,

My doctor talked to me about Glutathione last visit. Sounded like might be something he thinks I would benefit from. I'll be talking to him again about it next visit.

What has your doctor told you about it? I'm curious.

Thx,

Ally

Ally,
We were talking about detoxing and he mentioned it helps with that process. He did a glutathione IV before I went on the pill form. There is an excellent refrigerated Brand which I definitely feel better on it.
Can’t keep my eyes open… Talk soon!

Thanks!

Hi Jen,

My doctor just started me on glutamine supplements twice a day. He said, now that the yeast is being controlled, he wants to work on more gut healing and my immune system with supplements of Vitamin A and Glutamine. I guess this is similar to what you doctor is doing for you with the S-Acetyl Glutothione.

He also ordered test kits from IgeneX so I can have Lyme test done. He called the lab and they said Medicare covers certain ones, so that's good.

Ally

Ally,
Happy to hear you are getting the Igenix tests. That’s great news.

Is glutamine the same as the capsules I’m taking?

I found a liquid form of the capsule which works better. However, the IV works the best for me. I can’t afford the expense as it is very costly.

Hope you are having a great day!
Jen

Jen,

I go back in two weeks for the blood draw. The glutamine that he gave me is Perque Endura/PAKGuard.

I can't afford iv's either. Glad you're getting some relief.

Ally

Thanks, Ally!

Jen,

Have you taken any oral glutamine yet? Because I had a bad reaction to it. I had to stop it. It's been couple days now. When I first took two capsules, I felt terrible heartburn. Well, I haven't had heartburn for years, so I knew something was wrong. So next day I took dose as directed again and same thing happened, then I started to have diarrhea and cramping, headache. I'm still recooperating, with some mild heartburn. Doctor discontinued it. I'll see him in a week or two.

I looked up some information about glutamine and seems it can cause stomach distress. Just an fyi.

Ally

Ally,
I have not had stomach upset but am not taking the same thing. I am sorry you got heartburn - that’s no fun!!! If your dr says its ok to take again, I’ll give you the brand names I have tried. They are not all created equal.
Have a good evening-
Jen

Jen,

I've read that glutamine is connected with glutamate, as in msg. It was more like an allergic reaction. I had some red spots on my face too. I cannot take anything with msg in it. I get terribly ill. Plus this one had some other ingredient in it too, the PAK plus some magnesium, very little but most mags kill my stomach.

What is the name of yours? Please.

Ally

Ally,

I would look for “pharmaceutical grade” with an allergy free list of contents. It’s amazing how often I find “junk” in the ingredient list of various meds. />

I have tried several cheap brands that don’t work.

Xymogen S Acetyl Glutathione: http://www.xymogen.com/products/product-detail.aspx?pid=198

It can be ordered online from the manufacturer but I have info to give before you call. (Explain later)

Next is the liquid glutathione that work best for me. http://www.liquidglutathione.com/

I hope this works for you!
