I started Doxy 4 days ago. The first day/night, I was soooo sick. The pain was tremendous. Knives everywhere in my body. When I called the doctor, he explained the reaction. I read up on it and understand it but what I don't know is how long does it last. I haven't had that excruciating pain again but every part of my body hurts. There is so much weakness and joint pain. I haven't had relief or sleep.
Any insight?
Unfortunately a herx reaction can last from anywhere to a couple hours to a couple weeks - drink lemon water and have an Epsom salt bath it helps with detoxing
I had the Epsom salt bath today. Should I do it daily? I’ll add lemon to my water. I am already gluten free and lactose free.
I would do it daily as well as dry brushing daily , after you have an Epsom salt bath be sure to have a shower afterwards to rinse any toxins you can off - gluten and lactose being removed from my diet has helped so much and I see a huge difference if say I drink a glass of milk tonight tomorrow my symptoms will be 10x worse.
Are you taking any sort of probiotics ? It is important to detox properly while taking the abx or the toxins dont flush out of your system after being killed.
Yes. I usually take a probiotic for my stomach as I have ibs. I just changed the pill to one aimed at abx.
Depending on what stage of the treatment you are at, determines whats going on. A real Herxheimer reaction is very rare and most often only happens with Gram positive bacteria. IF you are treating active disease, meaning it is diagnosed by evidenced based means and you have a "herx reaction" it is a very serious and possibly life threatening condition.
If you are being treated by a "Lyme Literate" doctor "herxing" is evidence of a number of things NONE of which have to do with lyme and everything to do with your body being damaged (probably long term or even permanently because of the die off of native bacteria necessary for its normal function. I have only been on the doxy for 6 days. Not that long. going to detox. Im not big on abx so we"ll see what happens within the next ten days, if I last that long.
