Sending our best to dkel,

AMEN TO ALL THAT.... WELL PUT ... TOTALLY AGREE !!!!!

Laura Flora, dancermom, and our founding moderator, Jen, are also part of the success of this group! We cannot forget them! Much good work and many a good discussion was added by these warm, wonderful women!

And, of course, there is you too, SK, and all of our wonderful members. It is lovely to see this community growing.

David, I hope you are asleep right now, as I imagine it is 4 a.m. where you are, but when you wake, I hope you are well enough to check in again and say hello.

Great post, SK!

I agree with you... dkel has changed the face of this group and brought it to life with his insight, interesting info/resources, and first-hand knowledge of how Lyme affects us. thank you so much for finding him and introducing him here!

Wishing you well, dkel, many prayers are being said for you!

yipeee to them too!!!!!!

UPDATE,

I have just heard that dkel is still in the hospital, and though he is not a complainer, his situation is serious.

He is there with his laptop and though he can only type a bit, he is reading every word!

Sending some love your way, my friend,

SK

Thank you for the update SK. Many prayers to you dkel, we are all thinking of you!

Hi DKEL -

I hope you're resting comfortably (as comfortably as possible) and that you're getting the best care possible - I'm so sorry to hear that you're suffering and I hope that you feel better soon! Please know that you're in my prayers - I hope you'll use this forum to whine/vent/complain/mutter/groan/etc... and know that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US IS ON YOUR SIDE!!!!

Rest, stay hydrated, and keep the nurses happy (cranky nurses tend to "spread the misery"!) ;)

David, I am sorry about the DM diagnosis. I was going to write to you about DM tonight, actually, because your description of the blisters on your hands reminded me so much of another member's story on the Myositis community. The silver lining of this situation is that now the Myositis community will also have the pleasure of your company. I believe there are some good drugs for DM -- you can open a discussion on that community and learn more about the meds.

Geez, there are quite a few catch 22s there! Hope you have some excellent Doctors on your side who can work out some solutions!

So sorry to hear of this added diagnosis, but better to know!

I'm also a moderator on the Myositis community, so come on over! Lots more good people to help you!

I like the sound of the 'stubborn and never give in' determination, buddy! Lets not forget the challenges you face growing up along with the day to day living in Australia! I watch all of that Wild Australia programming and see the people who wrangle the dreaded brown snake so prominent and out of control in your home town! You all grow sharks bigger than 'jaws', and even you ants are ferocious there! This is just the beginning of the list! It takes a special breed of people to deal with your extreme temps, and deadly wildlife!

You all seem to have that Crocodile Dundee resilience, charm, and wit about you so please gather it all up and beat this stuff! Time to get you to a better plateau of health!

hi ...agree 100% SK.... especially about the "croc"...)

Thank you for the update David. Sorry to hear there are additional diagnoses...it does seem you need a catch 23! Perhaps the catch 23 is the x factor from which you get better. I have no doubt your Irish and Welsh blood will help you through! You are a warrior my friend. As SK said, love the stubborn determination! Are there any homeopathic or natural remedies for any of the catch 22 situations that will not clash with your medicines...for example a natural anti-inflammatory instead of steroid-based...? I hope each day is better for you.

I'd like a photo of him in 'the gear', with 'the knife' to add to my photo collection! So get well and get on that David! LOL! I'll give you a place of pride right beside the son and the grand kids!

Hi dkel,

Well Richard's wife is on to something. According to organicfacts.net: "Cabbage is known to accumulate a build-up of cadmium-binding complexes in its leaves, and one of the main components of that is glutamine. Glutamine is a strong anti-inflammatory agent, so consuming cabbage can reduce the effects of many type of inflammation, irritation, allergies, joint pain, fever, and various skin disorders."

Maybe her coleslaw is exactly what you need.

In all seriousness, doctors rarely learn about nutrition unless they are naturopaths- but maybe yours will know about diet options for inflammation and immune support... slmo

Indeed dkel, I think diet can definitely serve us well. Richard and I could do a health-wise cooking show!
