Igenex IFA

I received a positive IFA from igenex >80. And then a negative western blot. What els can give you a false positive for IFA

Just about anything can make an IFA positive. Usually it is autoimmune. but colds, flu, bugs in general, and few STDs can set it off. Asthma is abiggy too. IFA is a quick and cheap test for ANA. ANA is a Antinuclear antibody meaning it is an antibody found in patients whose immune system is predisposed to cause inflammation against their own body tissues. Igenex LOVEs IFA tests as they are frequently positive and lead to the more expensive blots. IFA has been replaced almost exclusively by “EIA” (enzyme immunoassay as the screening test for Lyme IFA simply has too many positives that have nothing to do with lyme. Its kind of funny that Igenex continues to use a test everyone know gives crappy reults...................

Thank you for your time!
