Which labs for testing?

I recently asked my doctor about getting tested for Lymes ... originally I was told they were going to use Igenex because they had a lot of trouble with the lab they previously used. I thought great; everything I've read says that Igenex is the best & don't even bother with anything else.

So I got to my apt to discuss it further, and she handed me a regular lab slip to take to the hospital. I asked about Igenex and was told that since insurance doesn't cover them we have to go this other route first ... based on the results of the first test, they'll decide whether or not to pursue Igenex later.

So now I'm wondering, did I just completely waste my time?? I did the labs anyway, but I guess I'm not really holding my breath for an accurate result. I have no idea which lab or test they used; just that it was a lab draw at the hospital.

I went ahead and called Igenex just to see how much it costs; they confirmed that they don't bill insurance and the test can be anywhere from $250-500. Wow!!!! :(

Thats because the Igenex test aren't worth the paper they are printed on
