Hi all,
Glaxo Smith Kline has a program called "Bridges to Access" which provides meds for free if you qualify based on income. I am in the process of getting Mepron for Babesia through the program. It was relatively easy to apply, a standard app and requires proof of income.
Slmo. Hi. Hope your having a good day. I have a quandary that hopefully you can help me with. I can get my Meds for 5@" a month ( now paying 5000 a month ) but can’t find a doctor that will write the prescription for it for more than 28 days. Due to those cdc guidelines. How do I get around that. All Meds are afraid to lose their licenses ( which I can’t blame them ). Any suggestions. Thanks soo much. I live on Long Island by
Hi Adriene,
Great question! Regarding the prescription itself...a Lyme-literate doctor should be willing to write you one for more than 28 days. On lymedisease.org you can request a list of LLMD's in your area for free. I also read on lymedisease.org in one of the archived issues of Lyme Times magazine about saving on meds...the article basically suggests shopping pharmacies, using Costco if you can, and ordering supplies online. I found from personal experience that it doesn't hurt to ask your pharmacist if you can buy a med outright...it may be cheaper than your insurance copay/deductibles. Also ask pharmacist the maker of whichever meds you can...contacting the company directly sometimes leads to free meds. I hope this was some help...hope you are having a good day as well.
Slmo thanks for your help. I received a call from someone who is willing to assist me. I’ll keep u informed. Thsnks sooo much
SLMO I asked my LLMD n I received the same answer I did from 2 other llmds. " I am just a MD. With interest in Lymes". They will not write me a script for more then 28 days. Getting the Meds at a low price is not the problem. I’m sooo frustrated !!! Thanks for listening Hope this email finds you well
Hi Adrienne,
Sorry to hear the docs won't help longer than 28 days. You mentioned getting a call from someone who will help? That is great news! I found an ILADS social worker who helped lead me to a Lyme doctor. I hope you find the right person. Keeps us updated!
