Newly diagnosed ;{

JUST DIAGNOSED I do have a positive test for Lyme Disease. I am getting additional bloodwork for the co-infections also. The doctor prescribed Doxycycline Hyclate 100 MG twice a day for 30 days. Please let me know if you feel this is sufficient or it should be longer. He is also sending me to a neurologist to see if there are any neurological signs that are concerning.
Thank you,
Gail

I clearly recall replying to this days ago, but I checked back in today and it appears that the internet gremlins ate it. I hate when that happens because I can never qute remember what was in the inital post. Grrr.

I think I had said something about it being too early to tell whether or not the doxy treatmetn will be sufficient. It's best to finifh up the initial dose of abx and then give it a few more weeks before you know how you're going to feel. Make sure you talk to your docotr if you're having a lot of pain because they can give you an NSAID of some sort to help with that. really, it just require patience, since any post treatment conditions won't emerge for a while.

Coinfections are incredibly, incredibly rare. If you are diagnosed with them through legitimate testing by an infectious disease doctor they deserve treatment. However, many supposed "Lyme Literate" practitioners diagnose them in just about every patient they see and use them as a way to pad their bills. Be care ful. Be sure to read the article on this site about co-infections.

I hope you start feeling better soon; again, I am so sorry for the really late reply!
