I am currently being treated for a lyme flare up, but I am concerned that even after the treatment, I still may need to adjust my lifestyle to not over exert myself so I do not get fatigued. Right now, I try to get things done, like cleaning the house or raking the leaves and then I am exhausted and hurt everywhere for several days (making it difficult to even get to work).
Depending on how you are being treated for your flare there are a few things you can do.
The "fatigue" is most often an autoimmune response causing inflammation. Sometimes adding a couple of Ibuprofen before going about your tasks will help. Others have found some relief from low dose tricyclics. Because it really isn't fatigue in the normal sense retraining the immune system through pointed PT is the most successful. The damage to the immune system lasts far beyond any infection.
