Dr refused to do Cd57

So my MD would not listen to me about lyme she said since my Wblot was negative there is no need to do further testing. She folded up my paper I printed on Cd57 test and then diagnosed me with insomnia and said she would do further allergy testing. I asked her why she thought I was so chemically sensitive to thyme, sulfites , preservatives. Dyes etc. She said because of my gluten issue! What an idiot! Thyme is an herb and has nothing to do with gluten… So I’m done going to that office… I found walkinlab online they are through lab corp… It’s $157 to request the test privately without a doctor… I’m thinking about going that route for peace of mind. I’m feeling alone and frustrated. But I’m not giving up on this fight. Does anyone else have insomnia or night terrors/ waking panic attacks with neuro lyme?

The reason your doc refused to order the test is that there seems to be little evidence to base ordering testing, and the cdc deems to CD57 to be an inaccurate and ineffective test for diagnosing Lyme infection. Also, after this length of time, there will be no live bacteria to treat. If you had Lyme at some point in time, it could have triggered autoimmune conditions or other conditions that are usually triggered by physical or emotional trauma/ stressors, and those are what you should pursue treating, if your symptoms match. I wouldn’t waste hard-earned money on a test that won’t affect your treatment in any way or provide definitive answers.

Thank you for this advice. I shouldn’t waste the $ you are right. I could invest it into anti inflammatory foods that heal the body. Yes and I was diagnosed with celiac and sjrogrens during my pregnancy and somehow mysteriously sjrogrens disappeared… I guess I’m going to quit wasting time at doctors and focus on nutrition and peace of mind. Thanks for the advice

the disappearsnce of diseases during pregnancy is one of the nine or so marks of autoimmune disease.

It’s very common for autoimmune diseases to hide during pregnancy and that may even continue I to breast feeding. They usually turn back up at some point within a year.

Focusing on wellness is a good place to start. Good luck!

My disease was discovered during pregnancy then disappeared after the pregnancy… The reverse what do you think this means?

The first thing that jumps to my mind is thyroid

Also thyme is not thyroid friendly and neither are sulfites. BUT the kicker is the pregnancy thing. and sleep disorders. Parasomnia is greatly effected by thyroid. I don't know how many of these apply (Mayo Clinics list):

  • Fatigue
  • Increased sensitivity to cold
  • Constipation
  • Dry skin
  • Unexplained weight gain
  • Puffy face
  • Hoarseness
  • Muscle weakness
  • Elevated blood cholesterol level
  • Muscle aches, tenderness and stiffness
  • Pain, stiffness or swelling in your joints
  • Heavier than normal or irregular menstrual periods
  • Thinning hair
  • Slowed heart rate
  • Depression
  • Impaired memory

You prolly should have more than just a TSH test Even though it is more sensitive, its not sensitive enough (IMO) Make sure your doc knows about your increase if symptoms during pregnancy. As most hypothyroidism doesn't show up until after menopause, they may exclude you because of your age................. So you want the TSH, T4, T3 and Free T4. (They usually only do a TSH) Depending on your diet an Iodine uptake test may be appropriate especially if you are vegan.

Also the thyroid antibody test for Two common antibodies that cause thyroid problems are directed against thyroid cell proteins: thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin depending on what your actual lyme exposure was. This is an MD issue a good internist should be able to do it.
