From all reports obtaining ssi or disability can be VERY difficult, some people (including myself) have needed to obtain the services of a lawyer to apply and receive the payment. There are some law firms who offer a ‘no win, no fee’ service and I had to engage such a company to fight on my behalf after being rejected by the department. Thankfully I am now in receipt of the payment. Without the lawyer’s involvement I would still be fighting to obtain the payment in my opinion.
